Judith's Story - “This is you first pregnancy and you have Group B Strep – so who on earth has talked you into a home birth?” – this was the reaction of the community midwife we saw when I was pregnant with our son Lukas. read more>
Our First Twins - Our first son Joshua was born in January 2002. Despite a healthy, fit and trouble free pregnancy, his birth in hospital left me feeling really traumatised. I was in labour for 26 hours, flat on my back for virtually all of that time in a hospital bed. read more >

Melanie’s story - Our first child Eve was born at 4.55am on Wednesday 20 th April 2005 at home as David and I had planned. We had decided early on in the pregnancy that, all being well, we would like our baby to be born at home. read more >

Samantha's story - Following the experience of my first child's birth in a local NHS hospital, I was prompted me to look for alternatives when I fell pregnant with my second child. read more >

Stephanie's story - After the birth of my first child, Esme, I heard people say that their birth had been a really positive experience. This was utterly alien to me and something I couldn't imagine. Claire's Story - After a fairly ‘text book’ pregnancy I finally reached my due date and nothing happened!! So many people (including Kay) had warned me that this would happen but I suppose I had expected to prove them all wrong and go into labour just before or on my due date. This however was not to happen as I ended up going a week and a day overdue. read more >
Lisa's Story - To make things more of a challenge, we decided to move from a small flat in Soho to Maidstone when we were expecting our first baby …. the only problem was we didn't have anywhere to live, and didn't know when we could move. read more >
Jo's Story - When I found out that I was pregnant for the second time, I felt quite sick with fear about the prospect of going through the experience of childbirth again. read more >
Andrea's Story (with photos)-I woke up on the morning of my estimated due date with period like pains, similar to those I had had the week before. I didn't think too much of them as they had come and gone last time with no progress. I made a trip to the bathroom and found that I had spotted a bit of brown blood - I wondered whether this could be a show, but it didn't really look like a mucus plug so I decided this could mean anything from labour being imminent to it starting next week! read more >
